Necklaces

The necklace is one of humanity's oldest types of jewelry. It was worn by both women and men in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome alike. It was not merely an ornament: it could express the wearer's status, wealth, and faith, and also serve a protective role as an amulet.

Over the centuries, the shape of necklaces has continuously evolved, following the attire and fashion of the given era. Fine gold chains, pearl necklaces, gemstone-embellished necklaces, and pieces adorned with medallions and pendants were crafted. From short, choker-style jewels to long chains, every era developed its own characteristic way of wearing them.

Today, the necklace remains one of the most striking pieces of jewelry: worn close to the face and décolletage, it is a particularly prominent part of the outfit.
