Pendants
The pendant is one of the oldest and most personal types of jewelry. As early as antiquity, amulets and ornaments suspended around the neck were worn, which not only adorned the wearer but could also carry religious, protective, or symbolic meaning.
Over the centuries, pendants have been crafted in exceptionally diverse forms. We encounter them made of precious metals, gemstones, carved stones, and decorated with enamel or miniature portraits. Crosses, religious depictions, monograms, portraits, symbolic motifs, and lockets concealing a photograph or a small keepsake were particularly popular.
The uniqueness of a pendant lies in the fact that it often means more than a simple ornament. An antique pendant can simultaneously be a fine piece of jewelry, a personal symbol, and a tiny memento of the era in which it was created.
