Bracelets
The earliest pieces may have been crafted from natural materials, followed later by bracelets made of precious metals, gemstones, and various ornamental materials. Throughout history, the bracelet has played an important role not only as a piece of jewelry, but also as an object expressing rank, wealth, and social status.
Different eras brought forth distinctive design languages. Delicate chain bracelets, rigid bangles, richly ornamented gemstone pieces, and enamel-adorned bracelets each reflect the taste and craftsmanship of their respective periods. Floral motifs, geometric shapes, animal representations, and colored gemstones frequently appear in the decoration.
The special characteristic of a bracelet is that it continuously follows the movement of the hand and wrist when worn, allowing the decorative elements upon it to display themselves with exceptional visual impact. A well-chosen bracelet can independently define the mood of an ensemble.
